Snow Day

We woke up this morning to -30 temperatures. If you factor in the windchill, at one point it reached -57. Because we have a fifteen minute walk to school, we decided to call it a Snow Day!!!Now, I have to find a way to keep the kids entertained. So far this morning we have coloured, watched a movie, and made cookies. There is still 9 1/2 hours still left in the day. It's gonna be a loooooooong day.

I Work Too Hard!!

Once again Bella fell asleep at the table this afternoon. This seems to be her talent. If she needs to take a nap, she does. She doesn't care if we are at home or in a grocery store. I have about 18 pictures (this one will be 19) of her sleeping. So innocent, so precious, so at peace.

Two Peas in a Pod

I'm amazed on how much these two have grown. I came across this picture when I was doing some cataloguing this morning on the computer. I think this is my favorite picture of the two of them. Bailey was 2 and Riley 3. I look at them today and I can't believe they've gone from babies to children. I know we have many more long, frustrating years with them still. (we haven't even hit the teenage years.) But when I look at this picture I'm reminded of the years that have already past. Sometimes I miss those days and wish I could have that back.

Nap Time

Oliver and Izabella taking their afternoon nap. This is what happens after a morning of playing hard. Izabella, of course, can fall asleep anywhere. I swear she was a cat in a previous life.

A Tanner Morning

It is a windy, cool day outside today. Bundling the kids took a few extra minutes to get them all ready. By the time you had the last one dressed and ready to go, the first one is complaining that he's hot. The new puppy is crying in the bathroom and the radio, that I have playing in the background, seems to get louder with a song that I've heard already this morning. "Do you have your lunch?" I ask them. "Yes," they reply in monotoned voices. "Home reading?" "Yes." "Riley don't push your sister," I say, telling him for the third time. "It's my turn to go first today," Bella cries. "You went first yesterday!" "No I didn't!" The puppy cries louder. They tried to make me go to rehab and I said NO, NO, NO. "I'm going first!" my voice reaches the level that I hate to reach. "Out of my way!" I push past them and start to open the door. "Mommy," calls Bailey's small voice. I turn around with fury in my eyes. Looking at her, daring her to test my patience. "Yes," I say trying to keep my anger in check. "Aren't you forgetting something?" I look around. Three kids, my keys in my hand...Everything is in order. "No Bailey, I'm not forgetting anything." "Your shoes." I looked down to see just socks. Breaking into laughter and tears at the same time. I opened my arms and hugged them all. Ahh... A morning at the Tanner household.

Sledding

The kids got Crazy Carpets from the Mercer Family this past Christmas and they could hardly wait to test them out. So a week after Christmas, we headed to the hill by their school. They had such a blast. It was the first time that Bella went sledding and it was fun to watch her do it. Once she got the hang of it, there was no stopping her. Riley was an old pro and was up and down that hill so many times I think I got a work out just watching him. Bailey did just as good. The picture of her is at the end of sledding. She couldn't go on anymore. After we were done we came home and had some hot chocolate. It truly was a fun times.
