Bailey Turns Seven

Another successful birthday has come and gone. The guests have left and the mess is cleaned up. Balloons have been popped and the wrapping paper is in the recycle bin. The sugar high has past and every present has been played with. Tired eyes are looking at me, I guess it's bed time. My little girl is seven.

Tidbits

I'm sitting here watching the leaves fall from the trees. It lets me know that I should be preparing for the snow that can fall anytime now and how little time I have to do it in. The coats need to be taking out and tried on to make sure they fit for another year. As well as the snowpants and boots. I have a feeling this year that I'm going to have to buy Riley and Bailey new outfits. Hopefully the weather will hold for a bit.
Bailey's 7th birthday is coming up in a couple of weeks. She's wants a party and I'll have to think about what do to. She wants to invite all the girls in her class. That's about ten screaming girls. I'll have to self medicate that day.
Our new kitchen is now completed. It was ten days of pure turmoil. Even though it took so long to be finished, the guys did a great job. I'm sure there are going to be many days where we can be in the kitchen cooking as a family.
Bella received Star of The Week at school today. She got it for being a great and kind friend to all of the kids in her class. Being Star of The Week means there is a phone call home and she gets to take home a certificate and a treat. She's going to be so excited when I go and pick her up today after school. What a babe.

Nothing Exciting

It has been pretty quiet around the Tanner house these past couple of weeks. The kids have adjusted to the everyday school schedules and I'm finding my way to slowly deal with no Bella home in the afternoons. Bella is loving school and always has something to tell me when she comes running out of the classroom. I have noticed that she has picked up a bit more attitude since she started Kindergarten. Even the other two are saying that she's become more bossy. Riley has join Running Club at school and is doing a great job. He wanted to quit the last week, but I wouldn't let him. He was finding that it is hard to run long distance. This morning I was out there with him in the field and he actually was able to keep up with his group. Baby steps. As for Bailey....Well...She's just Bailey.

Afternoon At The River

We decided to head down to the River Valley on Saturday. We ended up spending a couple of hours down there. It felt like BC for a brief moment. Then I turned my head and saw the construction of Fox Drive and the traffic.

Week One Over

We, or should I say "I", survived the first week of school. The kids and I are getting back into our familiar routine. Bella is loving going to school. She is coming home with the same songs and stories the other two kids learned with they first went. It's such a great feeling knowing that she will get the same foundation that Riley and Bailey received when they were in Kindergarten. As for me, well I think coming home instead of going for coffee would be a step in the right direction. I came home last Friday and it was very odd walking through the front door without a child in tow. It's not like I have never been without my kids. I have come home without them before. But this just seems too permanent for me. Maybe I'm just over analyzing it.

My Little Girl

My baby went to school today. Her pink backpack on and a big smile across her face. I took her in and we found her hook. Her name neatly printed. This is where she will put her coat and backpack everyday. She looked up at me with her eyes dancing. I look down at her with my eyes swimming with tears. It's like looking in the mirror. A mini version of myself looking back at me. The teacher calls all the kids to join him in the circle and Bella gives me a hug and heads over. I stand there looking at her wondering if the teacher will notice if I join her in that circle. She turns and looks at me and waves. My cue to leave. I walk out of the classroom and turn one last time to look at her. Maybe she'll be looking and come running, begging me not to leave. She's not. Too busy talking with a girl beside her. I left that classroom today with a very heavy heart. The baby chapter in my life and hers has come to an end. A new one has just begun. These will be the easiest years. I've told myself to enjoy them. Because by the time junior high starts I'll be wanting these years back.
