The Sun Got Dirty

I'm always amazed by what the kids say. They come up with some fascinating things. Today Bella sat at the kitchen table looking out the window while I did the dishes and we had a wonderful conversation. "You know what happened to the sun?" Because it was cloudy out I told her that the sun is behind the clouds. And of course I didn't get what she was talking about. "No mommy, the sun got dirty last night." What?!? I put the dish cloth down and looked at the back of her head. "Okay...How did the sun get dirty last night? Still looking out the window. Well....It rained last night you know." And before she could finish she had to tell me that Bailey didn't believe her that Mother Nature made it rain last night. "The sun decided to play in the mud at school and got all dirty. And now it needs to get washed off before it will come out again. So the clouds are covering her (she thinks the sun is a girl) up until she is clean again." There you have it. Knowledge from a five year old.

Almost Done

We are nearing the end of summer vacation and the kids are looking forward to going back to school. I'm looking forward as well for them to return. It has been a really great summer. Sure there were a few days where I thought 8pm would never come. But overall it's been not too bad. We seemed to stay busy throughout the summer with many family functions and play dates with school friends. And now the Tanner Family will be entering another chapter as Izabella starts her first day of school. This I'm sure will be an exciting yet sad day. Not for her of course, but for me. I've joked that I have thought about this day for quite sometime. I could hardly wait to be a lady of leisure and eat bonbons while watching Oprah in the afternoon. But under it all, I'm going to miss my sidekick. I'm sure that I will find a new routine and she'll be fine without me. I just know that it's going to be a little bit sad. Okay a lot sad.

Reno Woes

We are day #3 in our bathroom reno. Hopefully by tomorrow night we will have the upstairs bathroom back. It's a good thing because we are beginning to stink. No not really. Sam, our contractor, has been working hard. Today the weather is starting to get hot. Which means that the upstairs is turning into a sauna. Which also means Sam is going to cook up there. He has done the major stuff and only needs to do the finishing details. I'll post pictures.
Riley has been really good about keeping out of Sam's way. I know the kid is just itching to get in there and help. Our residential foreman, Bella, has been keeping Sam in line. Today he was taking down part of the ceiling in the kitchen and she was there with arms crossed watching him. Bailey couldn't care less about what is happening around her. If it doesn't involve books, flowers, or butterflies, she doesn't want anything to do with it.
That's about all that has been happening this week. The weather is going to get intolerable. Which means I'm going to get cranky. Only 18 days until the kids go back to school. Only 18 more days for me to get them back onto the school schedule. Fun times. (rolling of the eyes.)

Dancing Queens

Bailey and Bella sure had some moves last Saturday night. They spent a good part of the night dancing it away. Bella loved to spin around and watch her dress twirl. And if you wanted to dance with one of them, spinning them was a must. It didn't matter what song was on, you were sure to find one of them up there. Even if there was no one else dancing.
It was probably the last time that the girls wear their red dresses. They are getting too small. So I'll be putting them into their keepsake boxes. Sad times for them because if I let them, they would sleep in them.

Tuckered Out

Izabella decided to have a quick nap at the wedding by putting her head down at the table. She just finished dancing up a storm and couldn't go on anymore. We left shortly after this picture was taken.

Riley "The Hillbilly" Tanner

Riley finally has lost his two front teeth. It's the funniest thing ever. He is finding that certain things, like eating corn on the cob, is a bit of a challenge. Makes for great entertainment on a hot summer day.Our poor little poochie Max has got a sore ear. I had been noticing he's been scratching at his ear quite a bit. When I looked at it I knew that the only way we could get it to heal was to bust out the cone. He gets so depressed when we put it on him. He won't go outside to go to the bathroom and he is constantly bumping into things. He's a sad looking dog to being with, but when we put the cone on him he instantly looks as if his best friend has died.

Guitar Hero Mania

Since we purchased the PS3, our life has become all about Guitar Hero. At first we sucked. But after many hours of play, we have gotten pretty good. Riley has become the Guitar Hero God and he regularly kicks our butt in the battles. Here he is doing his thing. He does have some serious moves. Especially when he plays Welcome To The Jungle. The summer has been going really well. I can't believe that we are almost at the end of July. Not to sure where this summer is going. The kids have been pretty good. Sure there has been fighting. But they are siblings, what do you expect. Bella and I have summer colds. Which seems to last forever. So of course this makes her more miserable. What do you do. Hopefully it won't last too much longer.
