Nothing Exciting
It has been pretty quiet around the Tanner house these past couple of weeks. The kids have adjusted to the everyday school schedules and I'm finding my way to slowly deal with no Bella home in the afternoons. Bella is loving school and always has something to tell me when she comes running out of the classroom. I have noticed that she has picked up a bit more attitude since she started Kindergarten. Even the other two are saying that she's become more bossy. Riley has join Running Club at school and is doing a great job. He wanted to quit the last week, but I wouldn't let him. He was finding that it is hard to run long distance. This morning I was out there with him in the field and he actually was able to keep up with his group. Baby steps. As for Bailey....Well...She's just Bailey.

Week One Over
We, or should I say "I", survived the first week of school. The kids and I are getting back into our familiar routine. Bella is loving going to school. She is coming home with the same songs and stories the other two kids learned with they first went. It's such a great feeling knowing that she will get the same foundation that Riley and Bailey received when they were in Kindergarten. As for me, well I think coming home instead of going for coffee would be a step in the right direction. I came home last Friday and it was very odd walking through the front door without a child in tow. It's not like I have never been without my kids. I have come home without them before. But this just seems too permanent for me. Maybe I'm just over analyzing it.

My Little Girl
My baby went to school today. Her pink backpack on and a big smile across her face. I took her in and we found her hook. Her name neatly printed. This is where she will put her coat and backpack everyday. She looked up at me with her eyes dancing. I look down at her with my eyes swimming with tears. It's like looking in the mirror. A mini version of myself looking back at me. The teacher calls all the kids to join him in the circle and Bella gives me a hug and heads over. I stand there looking at her wondering if the teacher will notice if I join her in that circle. She turns and looks at me and waves. My cue to leave. I walk out of the classroom and turn one last time to look at her. Maybe she'll be looking and come running, begging me not to leave. She's not. Too busy talking with a girl beside her. I left that classroom today with a very heavy heart. The baby chapter in my life and hers has come to an end. A new one has just begun. These will be the easiest years. I've told myself to enjoy them. Because by the time junior high starts I'll be wanting these years back.

The Sun Got Dirty
I'm always amazed by what the kids say. They come up with some fascinating things. Today Bella sat at the kitchen table looking out the window while I did the dishes and we had a wonderful conversation. "You know what happened to the sun?" Because it was cloudy out I told her that the sun is behind the clouds. And of course I didn't get what she was talking about. "No mommy, the sun got dirty last night." What?!? I put the dish cloth down and looked at the back of her head. "Okay...How did the sun get dirty last night? Still looking out the window. Well....It rained last night you know." And before she could finish she had to tell me that Bailey didn't believe her that Mother Nature made it rain last night. "The sun decided to play in the mud at school and got all dirty. And now it needs to get washed off before it will come out again. So the clouds are covering her (she thinks the sun is a girl) up until she is clean again." There you have it. Knowledge from a five year old.

Reno Woes
We are day #3 in our bathroom reno. Hopefully by tomorrow night we will have the upstairs bathroom back. It's a good thing because we are beginning to stink. No not really. Sam, our contractor, has been working hard. Today the weather is starting to get hot. Which means that the upstairs is turning into a sauna. Which also means Sam is going to cook up there. He has done the major stuff and only needs to do the finishing details. I'll post pictures.
Riley has been really good about keeping out of Sam's way. I know the kid is just itching to get in there and help. Our residential foreman, Bella, has been keeping Sam in line. Today he was taking down part of the ceiling in the kitchen and she was there with arms crossed watching him. Bailey couldn't care less about what is happening around her. If it doesn't involve books, flowers, or butterflies, she doesn't want anything to do with it.
That's about all that has been happening this week. The weather is going to get intolerable. Which means I'm going to get cranky. Only 18 days until the kids go back to school. Only 18 more days for me to get them back onto the school schedule. Fun times. (rolling of the eyes.)
