The kids are great. We went to Celebration of Learning last night at the school. This is where the kids get to show us what they have been doing all year in school. Projects, tests, etc. Since I seem to live at the school, this was a chance for the kids to show their dad what they have done. It was a great night and I tried to enjoy myself. But... at home there was a little book that was calling me. Begging me to come home and forget everything else. To pick it up and read the last few chapters I had left.
The book I'm talking about is Marley and Me. Kevin and Deb gave it me to as an early birthday present. And since birthdays aren't a big deal between us, (Kevin seems to be late sending a card and I'm bad for forgetting to send a card) this was a real treat. Now I'm always skeptical of books that are given or suggested by people. I feel a book that someone absolutely loved might not be loved by another person. Such as movies, music, etc. All I can say is that this was the best book I've read since J.K. Rowling released the last book of the Harry Potter series. I fell in love with this book, the writer, and most of all Marley. I laughed out loud. I can't recall the last time that I laughed out loud over a book. I'm sure I drove everyone nuts because of it. And in the end, knowing what the ending would be before I even picked up the book, I cried. Now I'm not a person that is full of too much emotion. I don't cry over tv ads or sad movies. And least of all I thought I would never cry over a book. But this one made me do it. After I finished the last chapter I was sad about Marley, but I was so sad that the book was over. So here goes. I recommend this book. Even if you aren't a dog lover, get this book. Read it, cherish it, and shed a few tears over it. It is SO worth it. I will be surprised if you don't like it.
